Moto Club Piston moves its XXIV Ancient Motorcycles International Meeting. This time we are celebrating this event in Santander, the natural castillian seaport.

The stressing logistic and acommodation (more than 25 different hotels with different qualities and styles) caused by the former location, Colombres, has obliged us to improve things by lodging everybody at the same place, four stars hotel Santemar (a common offer for every participant), an awesome location close to the beach in Sardinero, Santander (difficult to find a more beautiful and pleasant place).

Santander Town Hall has welcomed and comitted with this event comeback to the precious town of Santander as it was held here in the ‘92, ‘97 and ‘98 editions. Those days we were less than three hundred participants. We are back now with more than seven hundred riders.

We loyally keep our traditional rally style. Besides our stunning and famous 5,000 bends route, we also held our motobrocante for spare-parts and motorcycles and a race. This year’s race will become a tribute to those races run at Sardinero Urban Circuit from 1947 up to 1962 (and it will happen in the very same old place).

XXIV Classic Motorcycles International Meeting

This is the heart of our rally. Participants coming from everywhere in Europe (mainly UK) will find things easier this time. For instance, coming from UK they will find the hotel only two kilometers away from the ferry facilities. Every rider will enjoy an awesome new route starting on the beach in front of the hotel to reach the stunning Pas valley and up to powerful mountains reaching a level 2,000 m above sea level.

X Sardinero Motorcycle Race

Formerly the race was a hillclimbing design, which is now turned into a beautiful 1,200 m long circuit around Sardinero football stadium. The ancient machines in an exhibition row (no times taken) will be shown along the traditional 2 and 4 strokes classic race bikes (these ones will fight against time).

VII 5,000 Bends Route

With a new landscape and new roads to discover, the brave “wildhog” motorcyclists taking part in this new edition will fulfil the challenge of 500 km non-stop in the 5,000 bends route. Not a single straight kilometre! We will start at 08:00 a.m. and we wish not to finish too late at night. You know when you start but the finish time is a mistery. It’s a long and winding road.

VII Motobrocante (Spare parts and Motojumble)

It will be held in a new place, Santander Sports Palladium, where you will enjoy three magnificent exhibitions: Oldtime Sardinero GP Races exhibition, Montjuich 24 Hours Endurance Races Show and an Exclusive Motorcycle Models Collection. As usually, these will be joined by 50 exhibitors and vendors.

In conclusion, the combined organisation of these four events is enjoyed every year by at least 5,000 collectors, restorers, motorcycling enthusiasts and general attendance. Obviously, for this year’s edition held in Santander we are expecting an even bigger than ever event. This way we hope we will be able to grow year after year in terms of quality and enjoyment improving continuously as it has been until the present.

PROGRAM

Wednesday October 5^th:

Participants reception and allocation of rooms

Thursday October 6^th:

Departure between 9:30 hrs and 10:30. Mountain route.

Friday October 7^th:

Departure from 8:30 hrs tor the 5000 curves. 500 kms for "will board" riders, thought the most beautiful mountains of Cantabria.

Departure between 9:30 hrs and 10:30 hrs for gentle riders. Lunch in ride.

Dinner at the Hotel Santemar, followed by live music, "Remember The Beatles"

Saturday October 8^th:

Departure between 9:00 hrs and 10:00 hrs. We will relive the I National Motorbike Race in Santander 1918, following de same route with a halt at the Reinosa reservoir. We then return to the Sardinero, to de Sport Centre to enjoy our famous Paella.

From 15:00 hrs the II Motorbike Race will we held in the "El Sardinero"

Dinner at the Hotel Santemar accompanied by wide screen displays of the race and rally, followed by a 70's style disco.

Sunday October 9^th:

Route through the Pasiega villages, we will ride through the most beautiful valleys in Cantabria, returning to the Sardinero to ead a "Cocido Montañes" (a meat, chorizo and bean stew). Then you may visit the Autojumble or go for a swim at the Sardinero.
