Discount in the price of the ticket of the FERRIES!! Esential Information!!What’s it all about?Colombres International Rally is on of the best known events in the Spanish classic motorcycle calendar. Now in its 23th successful year, the rally is open to pre-1980 motorcycles. As in previous years the event is dedicated to a person, marque or event of significance. Colombres is not just a Rally but a combination of four events which are: · 23th International meeting · 9th Hill Climb from Bustio to Colombres · Ruta des 5000 curvas – an 8 hour Road Trial · Motorcycle exhibition and Autojumble
23th International MeetingLast year we had the pleasure of greeting 135 of our friends from the UK and a significant number of French riders, which means that nearly 200 foreign riders had the opportunity to share a ride with us and were a significant part of the 650 total entries and this year we are expecting to welcome more overseas friends. If you are coming from the UK, you can sail from Plymouth to Santander with Brittany Ferries or from Portsmouth to Bilbao with P&O Ferries.(see special discounts on our webpage www.mcpiston.com Information will be available from June 9th Hill Climb Bustio – Colombres (Saturday 10th October) In this hill climb, competitors for the Spanish national championship together with veteran racers and overseas riders will compete, not for prizes or points, but just for the fun of racing on public roads. You will see and hear in action pre-40s classics and screaming Spanish two strokes from the 60s, see Velocette, New Imperial and Moto Guzzi battle it out against Ducati, Bultaco and Montesas ..... Some of years entry from the UK included: Entrants for the Hill Climb Event are required to send a copy of their Driving Licence and pay the federative expenses in order that we can provide them with a one day international competition licence. All entries must be received by the end of August. “Ruta de las 5,000 curvas” ( The Route of Five Thousand Curves) Friday 8th October This is a 500km road trial which will take you into the foothills of the Picos de Europa on mountain roads with superb tarmac. This trial is aimed at keen riders who will complete two laps of the course, starting and finishing in Colombres. You will be given a route card detailing the route to follow. This card will also indicate the petrol stations en-route and the obligatory checkpoints in order to complete the trial. Everyone completing the course will receive a commemorative award.If you would like to participate, you can enter on arrival. Motorcycle exhibition and Autojumble This will take place on the 9th and 10th October in the Colombres Sports Pavillion (Polideportivo). Because of the increasing interest of Spanish classic bike enthusiasts, last year for the first time we staged an Autojumble, which was a great success and this year due to popular demand we will stage a bigger and better Autojumble.
Colombres 2010: Programme of events. Please note entries will be accepted from June the date is to be finalised and will be published on the entries page of our website Wednesday 6th October Welcome to our participants. Thursday 7th October – High Mountain route. 10.00hrs Start of the High Mountain Route – 200kms “The Cider and Blue Cheese route” ( A full tank and warm clothing is recommended) Our return to Colombres will be at 17.00hrs and at 21.00hrs there will be an Espicha (cold buffet) in the sports pavilion. During the day if you wish to enter the 5,000 curves road trial, you can add you name to the entry list at the Tourist Office. Friday 8th October - 5th “5,000 Curvas Road Trial” 08.30hrs Start of the 5th edition of the 5,000 Curvas Road Trial, for the boldest riders, a high mountain route, not for beginners, this is a test of man and machine with a great feeling of achievement for everyone taking part. 10.00hrs Start of the road trial for those who wish to experience the challenge but not the pressure of the full route, perhaps as an introductory ride in readiness for next years full route. We will cover one lap of the road trial course. 21.00hrs Dinner at Hotel San Angel. Saturday 9th October – “A day at the races” 10.00hrs Start of the “Ruta Costa Verde” our route will take in both mountains and coastline during our morning run, we will be back in Colombres to enjoy the giant Paella in the square. 10.00hrs Opening of the V Motorcycle exhibition and Autojumble the Sports Pavilion. 8th Bustio – Colombres Hill Climb This year again we will also include a Classic Sidecar class and due to popular demand we have now increased the number of entries to 70 competitors. 21.00hrs Dinner at the Hotel La Franca and of course after the traditional “Queimada” we will have our V International Folk Song contest. “Lets see if you can sing as well as you did last year.” Sunday 10th October – “Farewell Route” 10.00hrs Ride out to 120kms not to be missed! 14.00hrs Giant Fabada in the village square (Fabada? pron: Favada is an Asturian tradition and a tasty treat) 21.00hrs Dinner at the Hotel Junco. Where are we? The 23th International Rally for pre-1980 bikes will take place between 8th and 12th October 2009 in Colombres (Asturias) a little village on the north coast of Spain, just 50 miles from the port of Santander for Brittany Ferries and 110 miles from Bilbao for P&O Ferries. Just follow the A8/E70 to it’s end at Unquera and we are a couple of miles further on www.infoasturias.com For our entrant coming from England M.C. Colombres 2010 is a great way to extend your riding season before the onset of cold winter days means you have to lay the bike up till next season. How to contact us. The number of entrants is limited by the hotel accommodation available in the area (between 400/450 places) hotel places are allocated in the order they are booked. We normally start to take reservations from the middle of June and we close our list one month before the event. We recommend that you book early to avoid disappointment. It is worth noting that more than a third of the entrants are from Great Britain, so you will not be travelling alone on the ferry.
